Yank Shi, born in China in 1941, has led a life rich in curiosity, learning creativity. He began teaching English in Yantai, China later earned a master’s degree in Linguistics from Fudan University in Shanghai. His career then took him to the Dalian Institute of Foreign Languages before moving to the United States in 1986. There, he earned master’s degrees in Linguistics and Fine Arts at the University of Colorado at Boulder, merging his love for language and art.
Yank’s path took an unexpected turn into the business world, where he ran a semiconductor manufacturing company for 20 years. Now retired, he devotes his time to writing, drawing from his vast experiences.
He has authored three books: “My Three Human Lives,” a reflective memoir; “Interstellar Roaming,” a cosmic adventure; and “World’s End and the Sea Angle,” a blend of reality and fantasy and The Kingdom of Wisdom. Through his writing, Yank continues to share his unique perspective on life and the universe.
“World’s End and the Sea Angle” presents the story of two graduate students David, a white man Emily, a student from China fall in love with each other on the campus of the University of Colorado at Boulder. They are fascinated by sprawling topics like the universe, the world human beings.
When David is caught by a tornado on the Kansas plains he is carried to a time-space tunnel which he traverses along. Stranded in East Africa during the Stone Age, David experiences primitive life and strange romantic adventures. David and Emily fall accidentally into a time-space tunnel in Bermuda Triangle and traverse to the future world. They enjoy the perfection of the future society. There they have some fantastic experiences.
Finally, they witness the tragedy of the World End. By chance, they return to the present world by reverse crossings. David and Emily reunite and explore the cosmos together. They make new discoveries and create new theories about the world and the universe.
